You would want your puppy’s first experience with interaction to be non-threatening and non-intimidating so as to build your dog’s confidence. Place your puppy in an environment you know they will not be comfortable in.

You can start off by meeting some of your friends including men, women, children and adult. The more people they get to meet, the less protective they will be down the road. Once you have introduced them to different kinds of people, you can then bring friendly and healthy dogs into the picture.

Remember that you only want to introduce happy and well behaved dogs to your puppy. Your dog will certainly enjoy and imbibe positive attitude of its new company.

Lastly, take your pup to pet stores, parks, schools playgrounds, and around the neighborhood to complete the positive parts of dog socialization training. Let him get used to the surrounding areas and to strangers as well.

The don’ts…

Now let’s cover the things you want to avoid when executing dog socialization training. The first thing you not to do is waiting too long to begin the socialization process. The sooner is always the better as it will be easier for your young pal to get used to people, animals, and neighboring areas.

The next thing to avoid is placing your puppy near strange animals or animals that might have aggressive personality. One quick attack can be very traumatizing for your puppy and can negatively affect your hard work at dog socialization training.

Dog Socialization Training Can Be Hampered By Letting Dog Revert to Old Ways

If ever your puppy is showing signs of fear, do not unconsciously reward this behavior by soothing them. As biting is often associated with fear, your puppy may develop a biting problem. And this is not a behavior you would want your puppy to have.

Lastly of the things you must never do as a dog trainer is to rush your puppy through the process. In socializing your puppy, always be patient. Dogs will learn at their own pace. If you force your pup to learn at the time frame that you want, you’d be surprised that it actually learned nothing.
